Since 1999, JDR has anchored carrier and infrastructure telecom projects across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands — from greenfield tower foundations to 5G overlays on existing sites. Civil through commissioning, all under one roof.
Telecom is where JDR started — and it's still where our reputation for quick turnover is built. Tower projects don't tolerate handoff gaps between civil, electrical, and RF disciplines, so we eliminated them: a single team carries every site from initial site walk through RF commissioning.
That integration matters most when something goes sideways. Foundation rebar conflict with the proposed grounding ring? Civil and electrical engineers in the same office can solve that in a phone call, not a change order.
We've worked through three generations of network buildouts — and we'll be there for the next.
Site grading, tower foundations, equipment shelters and platforms, ice bridges, fencing, and access road work — engineered to PR hurricane wind loading from day one.
Service entrance, distribution panels, DC plants, generator installation with ATS, grounding systems engineered to motorola R56, and surge protection.
Antenna and line installation, RBS/RRU mounting and configuration, PIM and line sweep testing, fiber testing, and integration with carrier OSS for commissioning.
A disciplined delivery process built around the realities of carrier schedules and Puerto Rico's regulatory environment.
Site walk, candidate evaluation, structural assessment of existing assets (for collocations), and engineering design for civil, electrical, and RF disciplines.
Zoning approvals, FAA/FCC where applicable, environmental clearances, construction permits, and direct coordination with municipal and state agencies.
Foundations, civil works, electrical, grounding, RBS, antennas, and lines — self-performed under PE oversight with carrier-required QA documentation throughout.
PIM testing, line sweeps, fiber testing, RF commissioning, integration with carrier OSS, and a complete site close-out package for asset management.
Anonymized snapshots representative of the work we've done across hundreds of sites.
Full greenfield development — site acquisition support, foundation design and construction, tower erection coordination, electrical service, generator, shelter, and full RF installation. Delivered against an aggressive carrier deployment schedule.
Existing site retrofit to support 5G radios and additional antennas. Structural reanalysis of existing tower, mount engineering, RBS upgrade, and full PIM/line-sweep verification of the upgraded RF path.
Multi-site emergency response after a major weather event. Damage assessment, prioritization, electrical and structural repair, antenna realignment, and full RF verification. Sites returned to service in coordination with carrier NOC.
Telecom sites carry real life-safety and operational risk — we engineer to that reality.
TIA-222 tower standards (Revision H, current edition) for tower design, structural analysis, and modification. Wind loading per PR building code and ASCE 7.NFPA 780.IEC 61169. Fiber testing per TIA-568 with OTDR characterization.FCC licensing coordination, FAA obstruction marking and lighting where applicable, and full state/municipal compliance. Our installation work is concentrated in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, where we have the local teams, equipment, and agency relationships to move quickly. We also support engineering work for projects in the continental U.S. — reach out and we'll let you know honestly whether we're the right fit for your specific deployment.
Yes. Our deepest experience is with Ericsson RBS platforms going back to the RBS3200 era, and we've worked through every major generation since. We also work with multi-vendor antenna and radio configurations as carrier deployments demand.
For existing carrier relationships, we typically mobilize within 24–48 hours for emergency response. Post-storm recovery is a core part of our practice — we're set up for it.
We can support site acquisition with our local agency knowledge, but our primary value is on the engineering and construction side. We frequently work alongside dedicated SA firms.
A full site close-out package: as-built drawings, equipment inventory, grounding test results, PIM and line sweep reports, fiber test results, photo documentation, and any carrier-specific QA records required for your asset management system.
Whether you're scoping a single greenfield, a 5G overlay program, or post-event site recovery — tell us what you're working on and we'll respond within one business day.
